Watch the Interview

In his first ballet for MCB, the internationally esteemed Pontus Lidberg uses Philip Glass’s hypnotic Violin Concerto in his latest innovative exploration of how dance, technology, and film can combine into an inspiring work of art. The costumes were designed & painted by Spiridonakou, a Miami-based fashion brand run by former ballerina, Andrea Spiridonakos. Each of the unique outfits was individually painted by hand, inspired by Miami’s unique energy and the surreal logic of a dream-like world.

The costume designs were commissioned by the Miami City Ballet for the world premiere of Pontus Lidberg’s “Petrichor” which had its world premiere debut on February 10, 2023 at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, FL.

The Art of Creation

Individually painted by hand, each silk fabric is a unique work of textile art. Created with natural variations that are truly one of a kind, every garment has a character and personality of its own, just as every dancer does.
